The tragedy of living without purpose (and how to find yours)
It is tragic to possess something without understanding its purpose.
Consider this analogy: if you give a toddler a one-hundred-dollar bill, he might tear it up or play with it. If you leave that same toddler alone in a restaurant with that money, he will cry from hunger rather than place an order.
Why? Because he does not understand the value of the money or the function of the restaurant. This principle applies to life.
Many people have life simply by virtue of birth yet lack an understanding of what life is. You can live for a hundred years and still lack clarity and purpose. When the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse and destruction become inevitable.
That is why understanding is everything. When you hold the key, you do not pray for the door to open—you use the key. Because you understand.
