The real reason people act the way they do (its not what you think)

Most of what we call “who we are” is not something we chose.

It is something we learned.

From a very early age, we begin to pick things up, not just through teaching, but through observation. We watch, we listen, and we absorb. Over time, those small influences start to shape how we think, how we speak, and how we respond to life.

You see it clearly when someone spends a lot of time around a particular person. After a while, they begin to sound like them, act like them, even carry themselves in a similar way.

It happens a lot in Christian ministry. Someone follows a minister closely, and without even trying, they begin to adopt their tone, their gestures, and the way they express themselves. It is not something they decide to do, it happens naturally.

That is how influence works.

Some things enter your life quietly. You do not sit down and choose them, but through constant exposure, they become part of you.

Even something like fear can be understood this way. A child who has not been taught to fear something will approach it without hesitation. Not because they are stronger, but because they have not yet learned to be afraid.

This shows that many of our reactions are shaped over time.

As we grow, our circle of influence expands. We move from the home into the wider world, and everything we come into contact with begins to leave its mark, whether we accept it consciously or not.
